Hello! To get the Works Cited (WC) books and coffee blog started, let me tell you about what WC is offering in the world of coffee and books. The coffee choices consist of a mild blend also known as The Works and a bold, which we like to call Works Hard. The Works is a smooth, fresh roasted Indonesian and Central American blend. The Indonesian bean gives this coffee its full and robust body, and the Central American bean keeps it smooth. Works Hard is a slow roasted French roast. It is roasted twenty-two minutes until you have to dark perfection of Works Hard. Both blends are roasted at a local coffee roaster, Midwest Coffee Company.
We sell our coffee in 12 oz. cups or in 1/2 pound bags. The bags are whole bean coffee, but can be grounded for customers upon request. The WC cafe also has muffins, cinnamon rolls, and other delicious snacks to enjoy with each cup of coffee.
What goes better with coffee and snacks than books! WC has a variety of adult and children’s books. Most of our collection is used, but we are building our new book inventory. The major categories in fiction are mystery/suspense, romance, historical fiction, political fiction, and general fiction. In nonfiction, our most plentiful categories are self-help/inspiration/reference, history, biographies, and cooking. We do have other categories, and if you are looking for something in particular always ask Christina or Loretta.
WC also has a Red Room. What is the Red Room? It is a room filled with vintage book goodness. These books are rare, usually out of print books. In other words, the Red Room is a book collectors dream. I just appraised a book today titled “Sexual Behavior in the Human Female” by Kinsey. I knew upon first sight that this book is worth at least $100. I opened the cover and flipped to the copyright page. The book is published in 1953. The pages are beautiful. The cover is a little worn, but it was published in 1953. This is today’s treasure, and it is shelved in the our wonderful Red Room.
